Your post suggests you don't know that there are completely new developers developing Darkfall: New Dawn and Rise of Agon.īoth teams (even taking into account the Rise of Agon team being shown to be less competent) have done more to the game than the previous (and totally different) company that owned the game did in the 3 years after launch in 2009.Īs for graves, Rise of Agon might indeed be about to die because its development team has chosen the same path that the previous company chose (albeit they have added some more bells and whistles). When you reward people for being toxic assholes, and punish the "good guys" who act like people are normal in darkfall, you're going to end up with a lot of toxic assholes and not many "good guys". Off hours sieging is absolute crap that needs to be fixed along with the entire sieging system.Ĭompletely agree about the culture of hate and toxicity.
There is a really strange, completely illogical idea of what darkfall should be among a lot of the darkfall vets from 2012 that apparently RoA is catered to. Wherever you allow hate to breed it becomes a disease, it spreads into the culture of the game and the community as the "good guys" move on. This is mostly a question of attitude, from the developers and the community. In Darkfall no one deserves a city, they earn it.įurther, exploitative culture and elitism fueled aggressive abuse of anything that isn't in line with their opinion, not to mention the off hour sieging and alliances that flourish on abusing broken systems and mechanics. If they were a hardcore RP clan they could live in an NPC city and still RP, they didn't need a city. This comment makes it seem like you have a fundamental misunderstanding of what Darkfall is. Bloodclan Orks were a 50 member hardcore RP clan, they lost their only city to a greedy zerg, were forced into spending their last days grovelling with human allies (which was against the rules of the clan) because the whole server was dictated by ARAC zergs, Bloodclan Orks was one of the few people in the game who actually created entertaining and fun content for everyone, and everyone just wanted to see it gone, why?ĭarkfall is not an Roleplaying game, sorry. It's really about attitude, this is what happens when you ignore people and allow toxic communities to control the game. And that starts by making it so that the average players don't have to do everything to become competitive - like you have to in RoA. The DND team understands the need for players to have true and fun choices in the game in everything they choose to do. That's why they are focusing on improving the racial wars, focusing on an intelligent, working alignment system that penalises red activity BUT AT THE SAME TIME makes it so that the very best red players can potentially gain significant rewards - whilst always risking significant losses. The RoA dev team is building their game to be nothing more than an enhanced, faster-to-sieging-game version of DFO2012.ĭarkfall: New Dawn's dev team recognises that this is the way to a dead game - because it's exactly what happened before. Hell, the devs even made it so that red players can now be inside some of the NPC cities alongside blue players. AND it has no downsides of any real substance to being red. The problem with Rise of Agon (one of its many) is that it totally did away with the racial wars concept. Of course it is - just as much as you and your guys want it to be. Ignore the anyone who says Darkfall is not an RP game. Even if they are not changes I want or had hoped for as long as they aren't ridiculous I'm ok with it(like when DFUW spent 6 months development doing a soft wipe kept gold, made gear aged and added new refining mats -w t f). The studios need to stick with their vision and just fix really obvious stupid shit even if it means reverting development effort. Toxic and passionate is a close line in the Darkfall community people love this fucking game. Also there are game tokens in ROA so you don't have to pay anything if you don't want to.
I am currently playing ROA and am subbed up to play DnD too, maybe I will play them concurrently or if I like the direction of one much more than the other maybe not. Whether it fails or not is irrelevant I will enjoy the ride while it lasts, nothing can replace Darkfall or if something can I'm yet to see it.
Issues that come along the way are part of it and as long as the respective teams TRY I dont care (Like ROA fixing their desynch server issue problem came and eventually went). The only thing that matters to me is a company that CARES about Darkfall and improving the game.
